Ingredients
For the Churros:
-
1 cup water
-
2 tbsp granulated sugar
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
2 large eggs
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
-
1/2 cup granulated sugar
-
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
-
In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a ball forms. Let cool slightly.
-
Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth.
-
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
-
Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4–6 inch strips onto parchment paper, keeping them separate.
-
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place churros in a single layer and air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
-
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Roll churros in the mixture immediately after cooking. Serve warm.
Notes
-
Let dough cool slightly before adding eggs to avoid scrambling.
-
Add nutmeg or flavored extracts for extra taste.
-
Adjust churro thickness; thicker churros may need longer cooking.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat in air fryer.
-
Variations: chocolate churros, stuffed churros (dulce de leche or chocolate ganache), or gluten-free flour option.
