Description

Enjoy a lighter, quicker version of classic baklava with the Air Fryer Baklava recipe! Layers of flaky phyllo pastry, sweet nut filling, and honey syrup come together for a crispy, indulgent dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

For the Baklava

  • 1 package phyllo dough (16 oz), thawed

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cups mixed nuts (walnuts, pistachios, almonds), finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Syrup

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare Nut Mixture: Combine chopped nuts and ground cinnamon in a bowl.

  • Layer Phyllo Dough: Place one phyllo sheet in air fryer basket, brush with melted butter. Repeat for 5 sheets.

  • Add Filling: Spread a thin layer of nut mixture over the phyllo layers.

  • Continue Layering: Add 3 phyllo sheets brushed with butter, then another layer of nuts. Repeat until all nuts are used, finishing with 5+ sheets on top.

  • Cut Baklava: Carefully cut into diamond or square shapes.

  • Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 320°F (160°C). Cook baklava 15–20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  • Make Syrup: In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, honey, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, then simmer 10 minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Soak Baklava: Pour warm syrup over hot baklava immediately, allowing it to seep into the cuts.

  • Cool and Serve: Let cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Thaw Phyllo Properly: Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

  • Keep Covered: Protect unused phyllo with a damp cloth.

  • Adjust Cooking Time: Air fryer models vary; monitor for golden color.

  • Storage: Airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
